My First Pair of Pointe Shoes

Today, I realized the problem I've been having with my pointe shoes-I haven't felt comfortable going all the way onto my box (the flat top)-is that my right shank is totally broken. For those of you that don't know, they shank is the piece of wood in the shoe that is the soul, with it broken, it is impossible to use. Passing on my first pointe shoes is hard. I feel extremely attached to them, so I'm keeping them (first I will hopefully make them not smell anymore...). I want to keep all my pairs of pointe shoes and make a memorial to them, kind of weird, yet kind of cool. I am hopefully getting new ones as soon as possible. Wish me luck in all my pointe shoe endeavors.
Here they are before they died:
This is the photo of them that got published in the Sun Magazine for military kids in the pacific area-Korea, Guam, and Japan.

UPDATE:
I got new pointe shoes today! They're so pretty and clean! And very hard! I can't move them at all! CRAZY!
